RAKEZ Audit Readiness and Compliance
RAKEZ offers industrial, trading and service licences across Ras Al Khaimah. We support companies with costing, stock records and tax-aligned bookkeeping.
Where RAKEZ company records usually go wrong
Authority rules for RAKEZ
RAKEZ sets its own licence renewal and reporting requirements, so confirm what your authority asks for and keep records aligned with it.
Aiming for 0% corporate tax
To access the 0% rate on qualifying income, a free zone company has to satisfy the Qualifying Free Zone Person conditions. One of these is audited accounts.
Splitting your income streams
Each revenue line should be tagged so that qualifying and non-qualifying income can be separated at year-end.
Selling outside the zone
Work for customers outside the free zone needs clear contracts and invoices, since it can affect tax treatment.
Manufacturing and trading under RAKEZ licences
A RAKEZ company may run a factory, a trading desk or a warehouse, sometimes all three. The accounting needs to separate them. Use cost centres or departments so factory costs, trading margins and warehouse expenses can each be reviewed without a manual split at year-end.
Where one site serves several activities, record the basis for sharing utilities, rent and supervisor salaries, and use the same basis every month. A reviewer is more interested in consistency and documentation than in a perfect formula.
Purchase to payment controls
For industrial buyers, the three-way match is the core control. The purchase order, the goods received note and the supplier invoice must agree before payment is released. Keep the matched set together and file it by supplier.
Review supplier statements monthly and compare them to your payable balance. Differences usually come from timing, disputed items or missing credit notes, and each is simple to clear if caught early. If a supplier invoice arrives before the goods, hold it as unmatched and do not pay it until the receipt note is on file.
Preparing the year-end stock and asset pack
Industrial year-ends depend on physical evidence. Collect these items in the final fortnight so that valuation and balances can be completed without delay. A short cover sheet listing each item and who prepared it speeds up review.
- Stock count sheets signed by two people, with variance explanations.
- Raw material, work in progress and finished goods valuation schedules.
- A register of machinery with additions, disposals and depreciation.
- A list of orders placed but not received at year-end.
- Customer and supplier balance confirmations for the largest accounts.
Records that should be on file
- Licence, lease and shareholder documents
- Revenue analysis split by qualifying and non-qualifying income
- Bank reconciliations at year-end
- Contracts supporting major income and cost items
- Fixed asset register and depreciation workings
- Evidence of staff, premises and decision-making in the UAE
How we get you ready
- Check status. We review your RAKEZ licence type and the tax position you are aiming for. We start with how industrial, trading and service companies usually earn their income.
- Tidy the ledger. We reconcile accounts and tag each RAKEZ revenue line to the right income category.
- Prepare the file. We assemble the schedules, contracts and substance evidence a reviewer of a RAKEZ company will ask for.
- Plan the year. We set monthly routines suited to industrial, trading and service companies, so the next year-end is easier.
Questions we are often asked
Does RAKEZ require audited accounts?
Audited statements are commonly requested by free zone authorities and are required for Qualifying Free Zone Persons under corporate tax rules. Check the position with your authority before your renewal.
Can Numerix audit my company?
No. We prepare the records, schedules and controls. Audit opinions are not part of our licence.
Do you work with industrial, trading and service companies?
Yes. Yes, we shape the records around how industrial, trading and service companies earn and spend.
What is a three-way match?
It checks that the purchase order, goods received note and supplier invoice agree before payment. It stops overpayment and payment for goods not received.
How do I share costs between activities?
Pick a sensible basis, such as floor area, machine hours or headcount, document it and apply it consistently.
Should I request balance confirmations?
For your largest customers and suppliers, yes. Signed confirmations are strong evidence for receivable and payable balances.
Where do I check RAKEZ reporting rules?
Confirm the current requirement with the authority, and keep your files ready to respond to any request.
