Audit Readiness and Compliance Support in the UAE
Numerix Accountants helps UAE companies get their accounting records, schedules and internal controls into shape before an audit, a bank review or a tax filing. We do not issue audit opinions. We make sure the work of your appointed auditor starts from organised, supportable books.
What slows down a UAE company year-end
- Books closed late. Delayed month-end closing pushes year-end work into the weeks before deadlines.
- Balances nobody can explain. Old receivables, payables and suspense accounts attract the most questions.
- Weak document trail. Contracts, approvals and invoices are not stored where the team can find them.
- Tax and accounts out of step. VAT returns, payroll records and the ledger disagree with each other.
A close calendar your finance team can follow
Preparation works best when the year-end is treated as the end of twelve small closes. Agree a calendar in which bank reconciliations are done within a few working days of month-end. Receivables and payables ageing is reviewed by the tenth. Payroll is agreed to the wage file before the books are locked. Once a month is closed, changes should need a documented reason and an approver.
Ask each account owner to sign a short checklist when a month closes. Over a year this gives you a chain of evidence that the figures were reviewed as they were produced.
Clearing suspense, old balances and related parties
Suspense accounts, unallocated receipts and old advances should be cleared or explained before the year-end. For each balance old enough to raise questions, record who the counterparty is, what the item relates to and what action is planned.
Transactions with owners, directors or related companies need their own listing. Keep the agreement, the amounts, the repayment terms and the approval, since a reviewer will treat these differently from ordinary trading balances.
Set a rule that no item stays in suspense beyond the next month-end without a named owner. Review the list of open items at every monthly close so that nothing quietly ages.
What a lender or an appointed auditor sees first
Most reviewers start with the trial balance, then ask for support for the largest and most unusual items. Prepare a one-page summary of the main movements from last year. Add plain explanations for any change that is large compared with the size of the business.
Keep a single folder structure for the year: bank, sales, purchases, payroll, tax, fixed assets, equity and loans. A consistent layout lets you answer a request in minutes.
Where a figure depends on an estimate, such as a provision or an accrual, attach the workings. Also attach the date on which the estimate was last reviewed.

Before you ask
Does Numerix perform audits?
No. Statutory audit is outside our licence. We prepare your records, controls and schedules.
When do UAE companies need audited accounts?
It depends on licensing authority rules, free zone requirements, lenders and corporate tax status. Corporate tax status includes the AED 50 million revenue threshold and Qualifying Free Zone Person conditions.
How early should preparation start?
Ideally two to three months before your financial year end.
Can a company with no audit requirement still benefit from this work?
Yes. Banks, investors, buyers and tax filings all rely on organised records, whether or not a formal audit is required.
What is the first thing to check if the books are behind?
Bank reconciliations. Once cash is reconciled, the rest of the ledger can be tested against it.
How are shareholder loans treated?
Keep the loan agreement, a running statement of drawings and repayments, and the terms, and confirm the correct accounting and tax treatment.
Who signs off the final accounts?
The company's management or owners approve its financial statements. Any audit opinion comes from the auditor your company appoints.
Our scope, stated plainly
