Audit Readiness and Compliance Support in Dubai

Banks, landlords, free zone authorities and the Federal Tax Authority ask Dubai companies for clean, supportable accounts. We prepare the records and schedules that make an audit, a bank review or a tax filing straightforward.

Where Dubai company records usually go wrong

Mainland and free zone differences

Mainland entities answer to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. Free zone entities follow their authority rules plus UAE tax law.

Bank and landlord requests

Banks and property owners often ask for management accounts or financial statements on short notice.

VAT and corporate tax alignment

Revenue in the VAT return, the ledger and the corporate tax computation should tell the same story.

Fast growth and thin records

Businesses that grow quickly often end up with gaps in contracts, receipts and approvals.

Dubai-specific document checks

Dubai businesses deal with several bodies at once: the licensing authority, the Federal Tax Authority, MOHRE for labour matters, and banks. Create a compliance calendar for the licence renewal date, the VAT return dates, and the corporate tax return deadline. Include employee visa and contract renewals.

Store the current trade licence, tenancy contract and Ejari details, shareholder documents and bank mandates in one controlled folder. These are asked for on nearly every bank review.

Track the expiry date of each document on a sheet, with the person responsible and a reminder set well before the date.

Payroll and end-of-service records

For staff, keep contracts, salary slips and WPS files submitted through MOHRE. Calculate gratuity at 21 days per year for the first five years and 30 days per year thereafter. This applies to employees with at least one year of service. Accrue it monthly so the liability is not a surprise.

Reconcile payroll to the ledger every month. Differences usually come from leave pay, deductions or staff who left but remain on the list.

Final settlements for leavers should be calculated from the contract, approved and paid through a documented process, with the calculation kept on file.

The three records should tell the same story. Compare VAT output tax to sales, input tax to purchases, and corporate tax profit to the accounts adjusted for non-deductible items. Keep each reconciliation with the filing, since tax records must be retained for at least five years.

Records that should be on file

  • Trade licence, memorandum and ownership documents
  • Trial balance with closing adjustments
  • Bank reconciliations for every account at year-end
  • Receivables and payables ageing with supporting statements
  • Fixed asset register with purchase invoices
  • VAT returns reconciled to revenue and expense ledgers

How we get you ready

  1. Assess your position. We review your ledgers, bank data and filings to see what an external reviewer would ask for.
  2. Close the gaps. Missing documents, unreconciled balances and coding errors are corrected with your approval.
  3. Build schedules. We prepare working papers in the format auditors and banks expect.
  4. Keep it current. Monthly routines prevent the same gaps from reappearing.

Questions we are often asked

Does my Dubai company need an audit?

Requirements depend on your licence type, free zone rules and corporate tax status. Some businesses must have audited statements; others need them only for lenders or investors.

Do you issue audit reports?

No. Audit opinions are outside our licence. We prepare your records and controls so the process is smoother.

How long does preparation take?

It depends on the state of the books. A tidy set can be ready in days, while multi-year clean-ups take longer.

Can you help with the corporate tax return?

Tax consulting is within our licence, so we can help prepare the figures and workings. Agree the exact scope before work starts.

What penalties should I plan around?

A late VAT registration costs AED 10,000, and a late VAT return costs AED 1,000 first and AED 2,000 on repeat.

Is a trade licence enough for a bank review?

Banks usually also ask for financial statements, bank statements, contracts and ownership documents.

What does a bank usually ask for when reviewing a company account?

Banks often ask for recent management accounts or financial statements, bank statements, and the trade licence. They also ask for ownership documents and sometimes a list of main customers and suppliers. Keep these in one folder, updated quarterly. This shortens the review and avoids rushed reconstruction when a request arrives.

Our scope, stated plainly

Our licence (No. 1360308) covers Accounting & Bookkeeping, Tax Consultant, and Cost Control & Risk Management Services. Any audit your company needs is carried out by an auditor your company appoints; we make sure the books are ready for it.
